The City of Stirling 10k in Sept 2008 seemed a great opportunity to raise some funds for Ocean Stars Projects in Sri Lanka and raise the profile of Ocean Stars Trust in Scotland. Helen Oliver convinced 3 mates(Calum,Jo,Ian) to join her and raise funds for OST. With a connection through Helen sponsoring a child in Trincomalee in the NE of the country, it was agreed with the Trust, that funds raised would go direct to China Bay, Trincomalee, an area severely devastated by the Tsunami. This gave the team purpose to attract as many sponsors as possible.Total collected from this event with gift aid and Cairn Energy making a great contribution of £400 was over £1839. All funds raised has set up a much needed prenatal health clinic for the local China Bay community. Ocean Stars presence in Scotland had been born. After the success of 2008,we have convinced 6 others to join us for City of Stirling 10k 2009! Helen is hoping to return in July 2010 to China Bay where once again money raised will go towards a specific requestthat will benefit the lcal community.
